The house is the kind of quiet that only happens when the kids are away.
You never really know how quiet silence is until the noise is gone. When the playful banter between the built in best-friends is missing and the sounds of cartoons in the background is removed you really begin to hear the house. The slight creak in the wood floors was hardly noticeable before, the gently humming of the running refrigerator is not normally on my radar.
But when your day is stripped of all the boy noise you hear EVERYTHING and you’d think relaxing would be the ultimate treat, but I find myself wondering what they are up to…
Usually it’s a sleepover and I count down the minutes until pickup but today it’s school!
Their energy was infectious, eager to get a jump on the day! The both woke with such a jump I wondered if they slept at all. It’s been ages since they’ve seen some of their friends and they were the type of weirdos that wore their masks in the car just to make sure the school didn’t send them home before the school day started.
They were even excited to wear a mask if it meant seeing their friends in person.
Anything for a little normalcy.
And I am ALL IN, especially if it means I don’t have to hear Chinese before coffee…
