I mentioned last week that I’m a contender in the #OxygenChallenge here’s the update! Week one was surprisingly great! The meal plan was given in advance which was really nice. I was able to prep before the week started. Unfortunately, for me, I did not prep well enough. My partner in crime and I had discussed starting on Monday which was fine, BUT my meal plan calls for Ezekiel bread and that is NO where in town, I had to make some minor adjustments until I could get to Trader Joes. My meal plan also called for an oatmeal meal that I couldn’t choke down. I didn’t falter in my plan, I just made some other clean choices instead of trying to eat something I couldn’t stomach.
The workouts didn’t get emailed to us until the very first day of the challenge, Wednesday. I have been trying to get in the habit of working out in the morning and didn’t want to skip this week so I did some light exercises on Monday, stretching on Tuesday and started the Lower Body workouts on Wednesday. The workouts are AH-MAZING. Each workout comes with a how-to video where the trainer shows you exactly how to do the move, gives you tips on correct form and then preforms the exercises in real time. This saved me SO much time! I’m kind of used to following plans but I’ve always had to go to YouTube to find examples on how to do the exercises, this one-stop-shop was worth the cost of the challenge alone.
I ended up skipping the cardio day, since I had done that earlier in the week. I also skipped a rest day and chose to squeeze in the remaining workouts so I can start week two day one on Monday. It was a lot of work in a little time, but it wasn’t too much.
Saturday morning I submitted my before photos and measurements. Saturday night I had my treat meal, which consisted of a chicken sandwich on wheat bread and sweet potatoe fries. I made it more “me” by adding a side of hot sauce and seasoned sour cream! I’m not even ashamed to say it either. It was delicious. The sweet potatoe fries were better than the chicken sandwich though….
Sunday I spent the day grocery shopping and meal prepping. I’ve discovered that meal prepping is quite the time suck. It took FOREVER! Everything needed to be cooked at different temperatures and a different amounts of time. BUT I have everything portioned out and ready to grab quickly and eat. This week I’ll hardly have to cook at all and that sounds pretty fantastic! I also went to Trader Joes and got my Ezekiel bread, which I had this morning for breakfast after my leg workout and it’s surprisingly good. I was hesitant at first, thinking healthy bread would be terrible but it was really flavorful!
This week is already off to a fantastic start!
Much Love,
Jes xoxo
