As I sit here this morning reflecting on the past weekend, I can’t help but be enveloped in this incredible state of gratitude. My weekend was jam packed with different adventures and being a person that thrives in alone time I thought I would be exhausted but I sit here rejuvenated.
My work trainer let our group out early on Friday because the program just isn’t quite ready even for us Guinea pigs. Since my kids were with my parents, my doggie got some extra walk and solo time with me.
Friday night we joined our neighbors for a Twins/Tigers game. I don’t follow baseball like I do hockey but I do LOVE a baseball game. Growing up my parents would ship my brother and me off to Michigan for the whole summer. My Grandpa was a HUGE Tigers fan and if you wanted to spend ANY time around him you would have to watch the Tigers.
I grew up watching the Tigers and my gramps narrating the game. He would sit there with his perma-frown on his face and comment, “there goes Jonesy chewing on his mustache again, he must have a big move up his sleeve”. In fact the ONLY time I EVER watched baseball as a kid was with my grandparents.
My hubs is annoyed that I’m a Tigers fan, which confuses me. I wasn’t born in Minnesota, I didn’t grow up watching the Twins. Why on Earth does it matter WHAT team I cheer for? Luckily for me, on this beautiful Friday night in the sea of Twins fans there were a couple of cute little girls across the isle from me that chanted, “eat’um up Tigers, eat’um up!” Of course I joined them. Sometimes annoying your husband makes the night EVEN better! 🤣
Afterward we watched the fireworks show and went to some Irish pubs downtown. It’s been a long time since I’ve been downtown, I forgot the amount of live music that is everywhere. The murals on building sides, the sidewalks, the street performs the insides of bars, what a great place to be on a Friday night!
We did get home a LOT later than I’m used to, especially since I have a Saturday morning date with my bestie, but it was worth every missing moment of sleep.
Bright and early Saturday morning started with a lake day paddle boarding adventure. It’s been a while since we’ve gotten out on our boards, TOO long in fact, BUT lucky for us it’s like riding a bike.
It felt good to have the wild fires smoke lift so we could enjoy the outdoors. It felt GREAT being out on the water, where we BOTH feel at home. Throw in some movement and it couldn’t have been a greater way to spend a Saturday morning! Between chitchatting and viewing the neighbors houses from the lake view it couldn’t have been better.
Saturday afternoon we headed to the in-laws for their annual Murder Mystery Neighborhood party. I’m happy to report I’m NOT the murderer this time, however the victim has been the victim 3 times. Character assignment is random and we don’t know who the victim is going to be at the start of it, but since Bob has been the victim so many times, it kind of narrows down on part of the mystery!
The murder mystery was Dregs Island and that one was just ok. My favorite one so far was the Western themed one.
Normally we stay and partake in the full partying but this time we decided to go home so I could spend some time with my dad on Fathers Day.
Yesterday we spent the day at my parents, playing outdoor yard games and watching their goats try to headbutt my dog.
I’m so grateful for all of the events and people within the adventures they made this weekend one of the BEST weekends I’ve had in a long time. Usually it’s a great day within the weekend but this ENTIRE weekend was just incredible.
I start this week with a full and happy heart, hoping you get to start your week like that too!
Namaste,
Jes xoxo
