Resolutions

First, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I love a good New Year, not so much the celebration with strangers over too many drinks BUT the fresh start and resolution portion is what I like the best.

Do you set intentions or resolutions?

I’ve been setting resolutions for years and I’m one of the few that keep them. To be fair, I don’t set the ones that are basically auto failures. Weight loss, working out every day, eating clean those things will never be resolutions for me. I prefer a different approach.

One year my resolution was to read 12 classic books, it took a lot of naps and the whole year but I did it.

Another year, my goal was to solve a Rubik’s cube. I got REALLY good at solving the first 2 rows. As the months passed I’d work on it, set it aside, work on it, set it aside… the year was coming to an end and I couldn’t move past the 2 rows. I didn’t want to throw in the towel, the week before the new year I went into overdrive and solved the dang thing. That was the closest I’d ever gotten to not making it.

The past couple years, I’ve changed things up a bit. I still pick one big goal and have a few that I’d like to throw into the routine. If the smaller goals don’t stick I don’t fret because they aren’t back up plans they are in case I’m inspired goals.

In 2024 my resolutions was to write every day.

The smaller goals were:

  • Wed the neighbors
  • Practice gratitude
  • Draw daily
  • Read a new version of the Gita

In 2024 I wed our neighbors, did the Magic – 28 day gratitude practice and I journaled every day for the entire year. 2024 filled up 7 journals.

2024 equals 7 journals.

I didn’t draw daily, but I did draw. I also didn’t finish reading a new version of the Gita BUT I did read some of it.

Success is at your discretion. It is what you make it.

In 2025, I decided to Atomic Habit the resolutions and add to what I already have built in as habits.

The resolutions are as follows.

  • Write everyday
  • Do the Magic gratitude practice
  • Do Less – inspired by the book by Kate Northrup. Trusting the cyclical cycles of life and doing less to enjoy more.

Happy New Year, namaste!

xoxo Jes
